Honorable Justice Esther Amenaghawon Edigin (Chief Judge, Edo State Rtd.) was born on the 17th of May 1956.
She graduated with a law degree and was called to the Nigerian bar in 1979. She practiced law for several years before being appointed into the Judiciary as a Magistrate in Kano.
She was later appointed Chief Magistrate in the then Bendel State. In 1999, She was appointed Chief Registrar of the Edo State Judiciary and then in the year 2001, She was appointed a High Court Judge.
She has served as Member in Election Petition Tribunals for both State, National Assembly and Governorship elections.
She has also served two terms as a Member of the Governing Council of the Baptist School of Theology.
She is a certified Mediator and Conciliator and has sat in very complicated matters. She is a strong advocate of effective justice delivery through ADR.
Justice Edigin has travelled several parts of the world taking part in International Conferences in furthering the course of Justice, Fairness and Equity.
She is passionate about working out! Reconciling the body and soul in the enhancement of physical wellness and peace of mind.
She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC) and a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators.
The Honorable Justice Esther Amenaghawon Edigin was sworn in as the 7th Chief Judge of Edo State and Presided as the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Edo State Multi-Door Court.
Through Her instrumentality as Chief Judge of Edo State, all Magistrates, Area Court Presidents and High Court Judges of the State were trained, accredited and certified as Professional Mediators and Conciliators.
She created the screening for ADR suitability process in the Edo State Judiciary and organized the first Settlement Week ever held in the State where matters of five (5) years and above were referred and resolved through ADR.
She is a certified Online Dispute Resolution specialist. A certified professional Family Mediator.
The Hon. Justice Esther Amenaghawon Edigin (Rtd.) is a champion for National Peace and Transformation.
In June 2022, She was appointed a SPECIAL NEUTRAL DESIGNATE of the ICMC ODR College of Neutrals.
She is a devoted wife, a passionate mother and a cherished grandmother.
