In a landmark step toward strengthening the practice of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and enhancing judicial expertise, the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), in collaboration with Forensic Electronic and Digital Law Consultancy (FEDLAC), successfully hosted the Special Fellowship for Judicial Officers from 11th – 15th August, 2025, at Trademark Suite, Nairobi, Kenya.
The training was ably facilitated by renowned ADR and legal professionals, including Godwin Omoaka, SAN, FICMC, FCIArb – President of ICMC; Dr. Agada Elachi, SAN, FICMC, FCIArb – Past President of ICMC; and Mrs. Chioma Afuba, FICMC – Vice President, Training, ICMC. Their combined expertise enriched the program, providing participants with practical tools, global best practices, and innovative approaches to mediation and dispute resolution.
Designed to deepen participants’ understanding of modern dispute resolution tools, the training emphasized best practices in mediation. Through engaging lectures, interactive case studies, and collaborative discussions, facilitators shared invaluable strategies for resolving disputes efficiently, ethically, and in ways that strengthen public trust in the judiciary.
The Special Fellowship demonstrated ICMC’s unwavering commitment to capacity-building initiatives that advance the careers of judicial officers while enhancing access to justice across Africa and beyond. It reflects the Institute’s vision of equipping legal professionals with the skills and perspectives needed to navigate the increasingly global and digital nature of disputes.
Participants left the program empowered to apply these insights in their respective courts and jurisdictions, contributing to a more robust and effective dispute resolution ecosystem.
