On Wednesday, May 11th, 2022, the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC) inducted 74 Judges and Magistrates of the Lagos State Judiciary as Fellows of the Institute. Amongst those inducted as Fellows are His lordship, Hon. Justice Kazeem Alogba, the Honorable the Chief Judge of Lagos State. The event was held at the High Court Premises, Osborne, Ikoyi, Lagos State.
During the induction ceremony, the President of the Institute, Agada Elachi Ph.D., FICMC, FCIArb (UK), warmly welcomed and congratulated the inductees to the Institute and applauded them for equipping themselves with Mediation skills which will aid them in assisting disputing parties in an assured, confident and professional manner. He also commended ICMC Lagos State Branch for continuing to demonstrate its capacity as a trailblazer. He particularly commended the Chief Judge for undertaking and participating actively throughout the training in person.
His lordship, Hon. Justice Kazeem Alogba, commended and appreciated ICMC for all its efforts in supporting the Lagos State Judiciary and supporting its efforts at promoting effective justice delivery in Lagos State. He promised that the Lagos State judiciary would maintain the well-established partnership with ICMC towards achieving its mandate.
Dr. Agada Elachi encouraged the newly inducted Fellows of the Institute to continue to uphold the high ethical standards of the Institute. He also charged them to represent the Institute positively in their practice of mediation; while applying the knowledge and skills they have acquired to develop excellent professional relationships and contribute meaningfully to the peaceful co-existence of various actors in society and the world at large.
