The Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), has honored another invitation from the Lagos Multi-Door Courthouse (LMDC), to partner on its Lagos Statewide Settlement week scheduled to take place from July 14 to 18 at various locations across the state.
The Lagos Multi-Door Courthouse continues to distinguish itself as both the pioneer and a leader among court-connected alternative dispute resolution (ADR) institutions in Nigeria. Its well-established settlement week has become a hallmark tradition, offering free dispute resolution to the public—an initiative that has since been replicated by many multi-door courthouses nationwide. This year, the LMDC is expanding the programme’s reach by conducting settlement week simultaneously across multiple jurisdictions within the state, once again setting a benchmark in ADR innovation.
ICMC, recognised as a leading mediation training institute in Africa, remains committed to upholding international best practices, providing comprehensive mediator training, promoting ethical standards in mediation, and advocating the importance of ADR for the advancement of peaceful and balanced communities. In alignment with its mission, ICMC has previously supported the LMDC settlement week and will enhance its collaboration this year, with trained mediators volunteering their services pro bono.
ICMC extends its congratulations to the LMDC on this significant event. As both organisations continue to strengthen their collaboration for the growth of ADR, they are fostering ongoing mentorship for mediators, expanding capacity, enhancing ADR awareness, and collectively contributing to peace-building efforts in Nigeria and throughout Africa.
