King Alfred Diete – Spiff was born in Nembe – Brass Bayelsa State on the 30th day of July 1942.
He was appointed 1st Commanding Officer of the NNS Calabar on his return from training in 1965, and a member of the War Council by January 1966. He was deployed to represent the Navy at the Supreme Headquarters where he worked directly under General Gowon then a Lt. Col.
In 1967 on the creation of the Twelve (12) States for the country, Alfred Diete – Spiff was appointed the First Military Governor of Rivers State. As pioneer Governor he initiated several developmental programmes and projects in Rivers state of which many are still standing till today.
He is a member of the Bayelsa State Traditional Rulers Council (1st Class) and a member of the National Council of Traditional Rulers.
He served as Chairman of the Bayelsa State Traditional Rulers Council between 2014-2022.
He is the Chancellor Novena University Ogume, Delta State.

King Alfred Diete Spiff was recently appointed the special Royal Envoy to AFRIDU and the African Union (AU) Sixth Region as well as the chairman of the African Diaspora Council of Traditional Rulers and Chairman of the African Disapora Investment and Development Forum.

He took up golfing in 1971 and attained an Olympic handicap of 3 by 1973. He provided land for the Port Harcourt Polo Club and obtained a Polo Handicap of 4. He is an instructor in diving, sailing, water skiing, and fencing. He is a scout commissioner and encouraged scouting. He is still an active golfer at 80 years of age, having won several honours and laurels.
He was crowned the king of the ancient kingdom of Twon Brass (TBK) in November 1978 till date.
He is an alumnus of the University of Port Harcourt and Rivers State University, (LLD);
Holder of National Honour OFR, 1998 and a Defender of the faith (DF). GSSRS, JP.
He is the founder of the Victorious Life Mission International aka Glorious Crystal Ministry.
He is the National Chairman Board of Trustees of the Nigerian Association of Auctioneers.

Out of Government since 1975, King Alfred Diete Spiff has maintained a simple but dignified life. He drives himself and goes about without protocol or security. He is now into private business.
He is Chairman of Bereton Nigeria Limited, a Multifaceted Consultancy Firm and his contribution to education and health of Nigerians through the group is commendable. He is a passionate and skillful golfer and keeps a low key despite his high profile.
