Meet our Discussant – HON. JUSTICE FLORENCE ATILI FIBERESIMA

 

HON. JUSTICE FLORENCE ATILI FIBERESIMA is a Judge of the High Court, Rivers State Judiciary. She was called to the bar in 1990 and started work as a State Counsel in the Rivers State Ministry of Justice in 1992, and made Director, Directorate for Citizens Rights, from 2002 to July 2015 and Director, Honourable Attorney General’s Office in August 2015. She was then appointed the Solicitor General of Rivers State and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice from August 2015 to January 2020, thereafter she was appointed a Judge of the High Court of Rivers State in 2020.

She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators, a CEDR (UK) accredited mediator and Member, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK). She holds a Master’s degree in Public International Law from the University of London, a Practice Diploma in International Arbitration from the International Bar Association/College of Law, England and Wales.

Some of the positions occupied before her elevation to the bench are;  National Assistant General Secretary, International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria, and the Chairperson of FIDA Rivers State Branch (2007 – 2011). She was Chairman, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) Port Harcourt Chapter,  Chairperson of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (2012 – 2018) and also a member of the Institute’s Governing Council and its training faculty.

She is married and the union is blessed with four children.
